I had some very special guests today on my daily Press Conference:
GMs Wang Yue, Wang Hao, and Hou Yifan of China.
I also had 10 year old Javanna Smith who is playing her first Olympiad for Trinidad & Tobago. She won her first ever Olympiad game today.
In addition, the Olympiad IT Chief Dr. Michael Breidung was kind enough to explain what it takes to have all the games broadcast LIVE during the Olympiad. He is in charge of making sure the the entire procedure is running smooth.

Actually the match points is “how it always was” and not the board points!!!
And what is “fair”?
Let’s say that team A wins all their matches by 2.5-1.5
Let’s say that team B wins all their matvhes 4-0, except the match against team A, which it loses 1.5-2.5
Which team is better???
For me it is team A, but you can always arguee that it is team B.
1. I remmember, at least, that in the 2006 Olympiad in Turino, the first rank was by board points.
2. Of course, team B is better! Even if they will lose to team A 3-1. They both have met more or less the same opposition, according to the Swiss System, and team B have shown consistenly better results.
There is no doubt that the board points’ rank is more fair.
Well, I disagree. If they are better then why didn’t they defeat team A?
And if you talk about consistency – results of team A are more consistent (in fact they are constant!) than team’s B performance. Afterall they lost when it mattered the most, didn’t they?
Javanna Smith from Trinidad and Tobago? She lost to an American 10 year old girl in the Pan American game in Argentina.
How could she win a game in the Olimpiad???
How do you feel during an interview knowing that the ones you interview are always lying about important issues and later having a big laugh in the hotel room?
