FIDE president urges to use Azerbaijan’s example in terms of chess development
      Thu 18 February 2010 12:22 GMT

State program of chess development in Azerbaijan is an example for other countries, FIDE chairman said.

FIDE chairman Kirsan Ilumjinov told reporters that the state program of chess development in Azerbaijan signed by President Ilham Aliyev is an example for other countries.

“President Ilham Aliyev has signed state program of chess development in Azerbaijan for period 2009-2014. Now chess clubs will be created in every region of the country and special attention will be paid to cooperation with FIDE. This document has been published at the FIDE website and it can be studied and used as a good example. The spread of this practice will further develop chess, making FIDE and the Russian Chess Federation stronger and more stable”, Vremya Novostey quotes the FIDE president as saying.
