      American Continental Championship 2012

      America, Argentina, Continental

      The 7th American Continental Championship will take place from 11th to 21st October at the Complejo Hotel Provincial in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

      More than 200 players from 15 countries, including 64 title holders and 22 Grandmasters, will compete in the 11-round Swiss event.

      The tournament is part of the World Championship cycle and top four finishers will qualify for the World Cup 2013 in Tromso.

      The prize fund is 20,000 USD, with the top prizes being U$S 5000 / U$S 3400 / U$S 2400 / U$S 1700 / U$S 1200.

      Cuba: Jesús Nogueira, Lázaro Bruzón, Isan Ortiz Suárez and Yusnel Bacallao Alonso
      Venezuela: Eduardo Iturrizaga
      Brazil: Rafael Leitao, Alexander Fier and Krikor Sevag Mekhitarian
      Bolivia: Oswaldo Zambrana
      Ecuador: Carlos Matamoros and Martha Fierro
      USA: Gregory Kaidanov and Alexander Shabalov
      Argentina: Diego Flores, Rubén Felgaer, Sergio Slipak and Diego Valerga
      Peru: Jorge Cori
      Mexico: Gilberto Hernández
      Canada: Eric Hansen
      Colombia: Sergio Barrientos
