      Anand – Aronian in Armenia?

Anand, Armenia, Levon Aronian, World Championship, Yerevan

FIDE is willing to hold Anand-Aronian game in Armenia
      15:50, 19 January, 2013

YEREVAN, JANUARY 19, ARMENPRESS: Levon Aronian has the best chances for becoming World Champion. This has been noted by First FIDE Vice President Georgios Makropoulos during the interview with journalist on January 19, when answering Armenpress question on how likely it is to hold the game of Viswanathan Anand in Yerevan if the right to play with the world champion is achieved by Levon Aronian.

“Aronian has proved he is a perfect player and that he can score the win over any opponent. If he wins, FIDE will be happy to hold the game in Armenia,” Makropoulos said, adding Anand would have no problem playing here as well. “Fantastic game will take place in Armenia,” he said.

Viswanathan Anand is an Indian chess Grandmaster and the current World Chess Champion. Anand has won the World Chess Championship five times. Anand was the FIDE World Rapid Chess Champion in 2003, and is widely considered the strongest rapid player of his generation. Levon Aronian is likely to claim for the final tournaments of World Chess Championship.

President of Armenian Republic, President of Armenian Chess Federation Serzh Sargsyan on January 19 participated in the Presidential Board Meeting of World Chess Federation (FIDE) scheduled for January 18-21, in Tsakhkadzor. FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, 23 FIDE members and representatives of chess federation of more than 20 countries participated in the meeting.

FIDE had promised Chennai a first chance to bid for WCC 2013. This is an about face. FIDE is nothing more than a political body.
