Anand was fast & awesome… so much like the Anand we know!!!

I’m glad he is back… the tourney is certainly getting more interesting 🙂

I do not like the loss of resolution on the pictures.

        Not just Anand. Shirov also.

BTW, Anand’s picture is pixelated. Susan (or some helper of her?) likes to play around with the pictures. There is no loss of resolution.

The exact photoshop effect is “watercolor” i believe (not very aestetically applied in this case – should have been slightly stronger)

        Oh my

If you click on the picture it becomes much larger and you can see the pixelation. It makes it sort of look like an oil painting might look.

I dont like the effect either. I like a clear photograph. I dont know why anyone would mess around with the pictures unless they want it for their own personal taste.

The pictures definitely have a huge loss in resolution. Apparently someone does not understand resolution. Looks weird. It does not seem to give Anand dignity and respect to make him look weird. I would not want my picture to look this way.

It is a good thing this is Susan’s blog and not yours. Perhaps Susan is a fan of impressionist painting. There is nothing disrespectful about that whatsoever.

I totally agree with you. Not only the anonimous @ 1:17:33 doesn’t know squat about resolution but also is talking about dignity and respect and bull crap and whatever hahaha LOL. This is just a friggin photo – if you haven’t gotten it yet – your soul is not being stollen when somebody photographs you. I won’t be surprized if this person is religious

Please learn to spell correctly, especially words like ‘anonymous’ that are spelled for you already. I’d hardly consider you a model for the School System of whatever country you are from.

that was a sloppy game between anand and van wely. anand was just letting van wely munch on his pawns like he was snacking on jujubes. van wely got over confident and didnt protect his pieces. anand just took advantage of that. wasnt an impressive win by any stretch but im sure anand will take it. ugly wins still a win.

Anybody still wondering about Anand resigning prematurely on Day 8? I guess that someone who doesn’t have to play 13 2700 opponents in a row is just more likely to ignore the laws of physics, is just more likely to shout out Drawnik, Drawdjabov, Drawpalov or even Drawnand, whoever they don’t cheer for.
No, I don’t claim to know what goes on the heads of GM’s either, i just want to point out the possibility. Of course, it’s my right to say whatever rubbish I want to – so is yours to demand blood. Just don’t get too disappointed when it doesn’t happen. It’s the way of life.
(On a side note, yes, I have noticed the incredible mental and physical skills of Topalov but I also have seen him going 0-2 down instead of 1.5-0.5 up in the starting two games in Elista – partly beacause of pushing it over the limit. I appreciate that but I wouldn’t dare to blame anyone for not trying.)

Hey drawdjabov, I can’t believe you registered with that screen name! It’s awesome, if and only if you forever use..

Anand’s game, up to move 20, was a repeat of his win aginst Motylev in round two, except in that game he had black!
Van Wely was very short of time at move 31, playchess server showed only 4 minutes remaining for 40 moves.
It was fun to watch Anand win this variation from both sides 🙂
