So it’s high time and hey day for the Norwegian wonder kid. The World Championship is almost his. Anand falters again. It seems the great Tamilian Tiger has lost his midas brain. Now retaining the championship seems to be a piped dream. Only a draw will do the honors for Magnus and Anand will have to participate in the next World Championship’s Cycle’s Candidates to be challenger again. However, Vishy we still love you as you are a true champ and everygood thing has an end so is your reign as World Champion. Congratulations King Carlsen. In the Battle of Generations it seems that the youth is going to have the final laugh.

Dear Susan, thanks for your blogging and commentary! Now being of mixed Indian and Norwegian descent, I feel there can be only winners in the WC. There are a few kinds of variations of alternative rules for chess. Being fond of the multiplicity of Indian Gods and Norwegian Trolls, I would like to suggest that it should be possible to convert the pawns into kings on the last row – it should puzzle even a chess computer.

Anand is toast! I thought he would have been the one to be able to stand the pressure – looks like he cracked. Pretty disappointing match.
Carlsen was good but Anand’s errors have decided this match, not Carlsen’s brilliance.

I am a complete novice. Explain to me why the last move of Anand is being called as blunder .. In my opinion letting Carlsen convert the pawn to Queen was game over then why is the knight move is called as blunder.

I am a novice so it might be something silly.

Moving the knight allowed Carlsen to play Qe1 defending the h4 square where the rook was going to go. If he had played the bishop to f1 instead the knight would be blocking that e1 – h4 diagonal. Carlsens analysis in the press conference showed that the game was still his or at least drawn. Vishy never had a real chance in this game – it just looked that way.

Even if Anand used the Bishop rather than the Knight to block the check, at best it would have been a draw. But that other move would still bring Magnus closer to the match win.

All of the games should have been drawn… a pitiful display of world class competition.

IF anand had moved Bishod to block the check he could have moved his rook to H4 and would have been one move away from check mate. Am I missing out on anything

Kasparov tweeted at the end of the game:
“Btw, I played this opening against Judit Polgar at Tilburg in 1997! I won with attack but Magnus played better. Her 10..h6 was very bad.”

Anand should have blocked the pawn from becoming queen first and then went on with his attack, patience was needed.
