Kasparov regrets leaving chess: Anand

Hitting back at Garry Kasparov, world champion Viswanathan Anand today said the Russian legend’s remark about him was nothing but frustration of a player, who misses “attention” and “regrets his retirement” from the game.
Kasparov, during Anand’s world championship match against Boris Gelfand, had said that the Indian lacked motivation and was “sliding downhill” these years.
However, Anand succesfully defended his crown, which was a befitting answer to his critics such as Kasparov.
“We were asked about his remarks. He is the man who regrets leaving chess. He misses the attention he got in chess, somehow wants to be there. May be he should play again,” Anand said at his first press conference in the country after winning his fifth world title.
Anand said maybe Kasparov wants him to retire.
“Kasparov retired in 2005, he has been trying to make me retire since 2011. You just have to develop a thick skin as a public figure,” he said.
When Anand had drawn the sixth straight game against Gelfand during the world championship in Moscow, Kasparov hit out at the Indian, saying: “What I think with Vishy is that he has lost motivation. Gelfand hasn’t won a single game against Vishy since 1993.
“As for Vishy, I think he’s sliding downhill these (last) years. He wants to win, he knows he’s a better player, but it’s not enough.”
The Indian chess legend said he shuts himself down when he is locked in a tournament, to avoid distraction.
“In general I try not to read anything during world championships. I try to stay in a bubble. The idea is to block it out. He came to the match venue and gave a PC,” he said.

Kasparov was obnoxious.
Kasparov just says the true, that is not an insult, everybody i know saw the same thing, Kasparov is maybe the best chess player in history, i think what he says must be take in count, and he had all the glory during too much time, i dont think he need anymore, he just said his own perspective of the games. Why Anand react is this way?
Right on, brother Vishy! Tells it like it is!
I watched Kasparov’s live commentary and I don’t think he ment it in a bad way. He was just trying to find an explanation for Vishy’s lackluster play. The quality of the match was low, there is no doubt about it. As far as Kasparov needing attention, I don’t buy it. He has proven all there is to prove in this sport and always had the upper hand in the encounters with Anand
Anand has right to make his own comments in such a way that Garry won’t do such stupid comments in future
Kasparov was always propped into the limelight as he was seen as anti-establishment by the west and thus a favourite. He never could dominate Kramnik or Karpov and at that time he was at the peak of his career and Anand was just about coming into his best. Kasparov was an also-ran, no big deal. Anand at his best would maul Kasparov in his best.
I disagree. Anand at his best would maul Kasparov at his best? That statement obviously is an “I love Anand” comment. Anand has yet to accomplish his dominance as a chess player. Kasparov remained No. 1 almost continuously for two decades and as world champion. Anand simply just defended his World Title for a continuous time of 5 years, and he’s not even ranked #1 in the world. I would like to see how Anand would handle Carlsen in a head-to-head title for World Champion. If Anand can beat Magnus in dominant fashion, maybe I’ll consider that Anand at his best could maul Kasparov at his best. But until then, Vishy hasn’t accomplished as much as Kasparov has. Simply look at the facts on Wikipedia.

Kasparov’s offer to help Gelfand shows that he has a hidden agenda against Anand. Kasporov wants a World Champion that he has mentored which is why he was trying to help Carlsen – to claim that he made Carlsen. Rebuffed by Carlsen he turned to Nakamura (another great young talent). Rebuffed by Nakamura he trund to Gelfand and was again rebuffed. Why is Kasparov trying to help all these players; becuase he genuinely like them? Not! He just wants the world to think that the World Champion was mentored by the great Kasparov. Kasparov can never claim that he had anything to do with Anand’s greatness.
