Anand – Topalov without a guarantee, the match in danger?
Bulgaria, Singapore, and Turkey with bids, none provide the needed documentation
      Report by Chessdom.com

As Chessdom.com informed a week ago, Bulgaria, Singapore, and Turkey are official bidders for hosting the World Chess Championship match between Veselin Topalov and Vishwanathan Anand. From that point no other applications have been received, and the winning bid will come from one of these three countries (India or Azerbaijan bids have not arrived).

However, none of the three bidders has provided the entire needed documentation. What’s more, the most important detail in a world financial crisis is missing: the money guarantee.

The official FIDE message states, “Under the terms of the bidding procedure, the bids should have been accompanied by financial guarantees. As none of the bids provided such a guarantee, it has been decided that the bidders have until October 15th, the day before the opening of the FIDE Executive Board at Halkidiki, Greece, to meet this condition.”

      Stay tuned for more details!

These bids are a mega throw-away of tax-payers money. Can someone put a stop to this?

Chess players should get clothing and food for these matches, not money. Money should go to undeveloped African and European countries.

        What are you talking about??

Without FIDE, backed up by all federations, including USCF, chess would cease to exist as is now. FIDE officers are smart and handsome, well dressed and well educated. They are fair to all parties invloved and the insignificant fees they impose are for surviving purposes only, not for getting rich.

‘Bulgaria, Singapore, and Turkey with bids’

What does this FIDE statement mean? The governments of these countries have offered bids?

I can see why such a match has no funders. Topalov was thrashed by Kramnik in Elista, then Kramnik was forced to give up his title for some tournament in Mexico, then forced to play for it back as the challenger. Now there is no money for 2 posers who play coffeehouse chess with massive losing records against Kasparov. This does not surprise me, the turkeys are home to roost and FIDE has egg on its face.

The solution is to recognize Kramnik as the true champion, then have interzonals and matches to determine the chalenger, like the good old days.

Finally they need a match of 24 games to determine the champion. Only this will save chess.

The Presidents of National Chess Federations of Singapore and Turkey are FIDE officials. Surely they can enforce their own rules or set an example?

        Singapore’s bid was a joke.
