I’m a little sad that he’s getting up there. His unbelievable chess prowess has brought me so much joy over the years. I don’t think he’s ever gotten his due because of always somehow being in Kasparov’s, Karpov or Kramnik’s shadow. His skill will necessarily decline now and more mistakes will creep into his game but it’s been a great ride.

Happy Birthday to Anand but I am concerned that he has not yet fully started on W.Ch (April) preparation since he is holidaying in India right now giving interviews etc.

May be, his seconds are already doing the background work

Its Great and can not believe he’s just forty, because we read and know about him for some 30 years. Long live Anand. We are all proud of him.

Vishy Anand will go down in chess history as one of the greats of the game. Not only because he is one of the strongest ever, but because he is the first non-Western world champion and brought the largest continent in the world into the fore of chess.
