My congratulations to Anand. He has already done a lot to popularize chess in India. Before him, the last strong player I can recall was Sultan Khan. Now India has many strong grandmasters. It just shows how one strong player with a pleasant personality can encourage others. Too bad Bobby Fischer lacked the personality.

Congratulations to Anand!! “..you can’t compare two very beautiful memories..” Anand’s words reflect that this super talented gifted chess genius also shares beautifully his personal experience in a very interesting way. Anand has a personality that conquers one’s heart.

I share oldtimer’s disappointed spirit concerning Bobby. Although at the same time one has to credit Bobby for his great contribution to the popularity of the game. I n second reflection I think one has to be careful when comparing between the two or judging Bobby too fast. Although again I share oldtimer’s bitter sadness about the horrible decline of good and old (if I may add and oh I do not want to enter another futile Bobby discussion) Bobby.

Congratulations to Anand. He has deservedly become World Champion again. Also let us not forget that he is the World Rapid Chess Champion and highest rated player too.Regarding oldtimer’s comment about Bobby Fischer. True he was an introvert and lacked an endearing personality that would please the public. But it was Bobby who unconsciously encouraged people from all over the world to play chess. Also his ‘killer’ high voltage games are unmatched. I love Anand and even he will understand why I consider Bobby as the greatest ever.
