      Another extremely qualified candidate

      EB election, Paul Truong

      Statement from Paul Truong

      Dear friends and colleagues,

What has happened to the USCF in recent years? Well, it has not been good at all! There was little sense of pride. There was little sense of financial responsibility. There was little sense of professionalism. There was little sense of urgency. There was little attempt to positively promote chess or the USCF.

However, there were plenty of internal political wars. There were plenty of horrific business and financial blunders. There was plenty of frivolous spending. There was plenty of dishonesty and unprofessionalism. There were plenty of unethical conducts. There were plenty of violations of the Standards of Conduct for the USCF Executive Board.

Some believe that if it ain’t broken, why fix it? I would say something is broken when we keep on losing money and sponsors. The USCF lost money again last year! There’s hardly any room left for errors. As each day went by, this federation fell further behind. With massive overheads, shrinking revenues and lack of strong leadership, we’re doomed to fail again.

Every year is a new excuse. Every year is a new finger-pointing game. This federation wasted so much time, money and resources dealing with nonsense by chess politicians instead of focusing on improving many needed areas. If we keep on electing the same people, how can we expect different results?

What are some of my many areas of expertise? What can I bring to the USCF? I have twenty years of leadership experience in senior management, marketing and PR, specializing in branding, customer retention, and innovative promotion, areas that the USCF sorely needs immediately.

While others were busy playing politics, I spent the last five+ years volunteering my full time to positively promote chess in the U.S. I was able to secure more publicity and media coverage for all the events that I was involved with than the entire USCF. I helped create countless headline news chess events.

The Susan Polgar Foundation awarded approximately $400,000 in scholarships and chess prizes in the last few years. It was done with a micro budget. I proved that we do not have to spend tens and thousands of dollars to positively and correctly promote chess. We just need to know how to do it and have the passion and diligence to follow through. I can help do the same for the USCF.

In electing me, you’re choosing a uniquely qualified and highly successful business professional with a passion for chess, who will relentlessly restore credibility, integrity, efficiency and professionalism to the USCF. I’ll work diligently with other board members to achieve sound and balanced budgets, create innovative and effective marketing programs, increase revenues, promote memberships in all categories and build a positive chess image.

This is an absolutely critical election for the USCF. This federation cannot afford to fail again. You, the members, have the power to set this federation on the right course for the next four years! Together, we can fix the USCF!

      Thank you for your support!
      FM Paul Truong

I also voted for Mr. Truong. He’ll be great for the USCF. We need a lot more promotion. The current board members are clueless.

I don’t agree with all his ideas but I have to admit that he’s good in what he does.

I voted for your entire team. The USCF needs major improvement and we do need professional people. The current board is a big joke.

Now is the time to vote! Just a few days left!!

The ballots received so far has been under past elections. A low-turnout election is very bad for Paul and Susan because it means that the same people are voting as in the past.

They count the ballots on July 25. That is the cutoff date. Not postmark date: receipt date. You must vote now!!!

Paul it would be a shame if you are not elected. You could easily be the MVP board member if elected. How many days left for submitting bids? I hope those who have procastinated submitting their ballots will support you. You will bring marketing expertise that is greatly needed to the federation. I hope all of your supporters take one last stance, and take this opportunity to reach friends and family who have not voted yet to do so immediately. Time is of essence.

Good luck and may God’s grace be with you.

I also agree that Paul is the most unique and most important candidate in this election. The USCF has never had anyone with his expertise. This is why Goichberg will do everything to make sure Paul won’t be elected. Paul will make this current board look silly with what he can do.

It would be a big loss for the USCF if Paul isn’t elected due to the disgusting political tactic of Bill Goichberg.

Let’s not also forget that the USCF has had to be bailed out for years regarding holding of the US Championship.
This has resulted in unsatisfactory formats. A 9 round swiss is a joke for a country the size and importance of the US. Fischer would never have played in it under such a format after about 1960.

Restoration of a proper US Championship is also a priority.

I agree with Victor that Mr. Truong could be the MVP on the board. He and Susan have promoted chess more than any of the candidates. It’s like GMs vs. Patzers.

I am absolutely convinced that the uscf needs Paul desperately. Goichberg has played the dirtiest of dirty games to stop Paul from being elected. Goichberg may have thrown enough mud bases lies to hurt. I am really angry with the current uscf and goichberg hall and hough. I am disgusted with most of the opposing candidates. This election has been the worst I have ever seen.

I desperately hope all 4 members of the team are elected. I sent in my vote long ago for Susan, Paul, Mikhail and Randy.

All I can say to everyone is Please Vote. Please Vote. Please Vote for Susan, Paul, Mikhail and Randy.

I love chess and I want to see it prosper in an atmosphere of good will and cooperation and Professionalism. I want to see all good chess players do better in life. I want to see a chess scene in America that allows good chess players and coaches to make an honest living and to help all the children of the country have fun playing a great game called chess.

Susan has this same dream and vision of the future. I support her fully in helping chess in America.

I’ve had enough of the USCF. I say if they want to play dirty, lets play clean and offer an alternative. Lets promote chess to the masses. Lets develop great players and beat them at their own game. Lets find sponsors. Lets have tournaments. Lets build a rating system. Lets make an agreement with an online service.

I’m ready to quit promoting USCF chess and start promoting somethin I can be proud. I’m ready for an organization with some moral integrity. I’m ready for an organization for the chess player, not the chess politician. The USCF is a joke.
