      Levon Aronian, Women's Chess

Levon Aronian defends equality in men and women’s chess
      May 6, 2013 – 14:44 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net – Levon Aronian shared his views on women’s chess in an interview with Chesspro.

“I would really want my son or daughter to play chess. If I have a daughter, I would really want her to try and follow Judit Polgar’s suit. I believe there shouldn’t be differences between men’s and women’s chess.

… If you are lazy and play with the weak, you start playing weakly yourself. I think they [women] are just playing against each other and that makes them lazy. If they have worked more they would play on the same level as the guys. No doubt everyone looked at Judit in astonishment first, but her parents are brave people,” the website quoted the grandmaster as saying.

The game between Ushenina and Girya is a case in point.

When the current women’s world champion cannot find the standard knight and bishop mate over the board we have conclusive evidence that women’s chess has lots its way. I can imagine Judit and Susan Polgar tearing their hair out in frustration.
