        1. Rxf4 exf4 2. e5 looks real promising, as only 2. .. f6 and 2. ..f5 need to be
considered as reasonable defenses to the threat of 3. Nf6+

        After 2. .. f6 Black gets mated rather prettily 3. Nxf6+ Kf7 4. Qxg6+ Ke6 5. Bf5+ Kxe5 6. Ng4#

        2. .. f5 is more complicated. After 3. Bc4+ Black can try either .. Bd5 or .. Rd5

        3. .. Bd5 4. Rxd5 Rxd5 (4. .. Rf8 5. Rd8+ Qf7 6. Nf6#) (4. .. Qf7 5. Rxd8+ Rxd8 6. Nf6#) 5. Bxd5+ Qf7 6. Nf6#

        3. .. Rd5 4. Rxd5 Re8 (4. .. Kf7 5. Rd8+ Bd5 6. Bxd5+ Qe6 7. Qf8#) (4. .. Qf7 5. Nf6+ Qxf6 6. Rd8#) 5. Rd7+ Bd5 6. Bxd5+ Qe6 7. Qg7#

        1 Rxf4 exf4
        2 e5 (threatening 3 Nf6+ winning Q; alternatively …Rd6 3 exd6 wins N, slows but does not stop attack).

        Rxf4 .. exf4
        e5 (threat is Nf6 mate) … Qxe5
Qh4 … And there’s no way for black to prevent Nf6
        Black resigns
