Is that a cowboy?
Its the school mascot – the Masked Rider. When Tech scores during football games the Masked Rider (and the horse) will ride along the sidelines.
The Tech chess team, the Knight Raiders got their logo from this mascot. They derived their motto “Check’em Tech” from the football team. So in that sense chess is also a sport.
