      Baadur Jobava wins Edoardo Crespi Trophy

      The 32nd Edoardo Crespi Trophy was held from 3rd to 11th December, 2011, in the large tournament hall of Chess Club in Milan, via Sant’Uguzzone 8.

      The Festival consisted of five separate tournaments:
      Master – for players with FIDE rating or Italian Elo rating equal to or more than 2000; 3-10th December; 9 rounds
      Open A – for players with FIDE rating or Italian Elo rating between 1750 and 2050, both included; 7-11th December; 7 rounds
      Open B – for players with Italian Elo rating or FIDE rating less than 1800; 7-11th December; 7 rounds
      Open C – for players with Italian Elo rating or FIDE rating less than 1500; 8-11th December; 5 rounds
      Open Under16 – for all players born after 31th December 1995; 5 rounds

      In the Master tournament the top-seeded GM Baadur Jobava stormed through the field and convincingly took the winner’s trophy with 8.5 points, leaving the 2nd placed GM Vladimir Malaniuk full two points behind. Malaniuk was the only to snatch a draw from Jobava.

      Alessio Valsecchi, 19-years old Italian player, completed the norms and elo to earn the IM title.

      President of Società Scacchistica Milanese Claudio Noè awarded the cups and prizes.

      1. GM Jobava Baadur 2678 GEO – 8.5
      2. GM Malaniuk Vladimir P 2504 UKR – 6.5
      3-9. GM Shishkin Vadim 2449 UKR, GM Drazic Sinisa 2537 SRB, GM Kosic Dragan 2502 MNE, GM David Alberto 2597 LUX, GM Solodovnichenko Yuri 2629 UKR, IM Colovic Aleksandar 2451 MKD and IM Bellia Fabrizio 2418 ITA – 6.0
      10-19. GM Sedlak Nikola 2592 SRB, IM Martinez Rolly 2420 PHI, GM Salvador Roland 2500 PHI, GM Lazic Miroljub 2459 SRB, FM Valsecchi Alessio 2376 ITA, IM Doric Darko 2504 CRO, FM Sbarra Marco 2245 ITA, Anurag Mhamal 2222 IND, Massironi Marco 2171 ITA and Miracola Massimilian 2007 ITA – 5.5 etc
