The Dortmund Sparkassen Chess-Meeting 2012 began today in Dortmund, Germany – scheduled to take place July 13th – 22nd. I’ve got to give a big round of congratulations to the organizers as this is the 40th Dortmund chess tournament! In a time where the global financial crisis is canceling chess tournaments in all corners of the world (Linares, King’s Tournament, Mtel Masters, etc..) – Dortmund has maintained it’s consecutive streak of excellence for 4 decades.
