Bilbao holds 4th Chess Grand Slam Masters Final
      10/09/2011

Participants include Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand and Levon Aronian, who currently hold the top three spots in the world ranking. Different activities related to chess are scheduled.

The 4th Chess Grand Slam Masters Final was held in Sao Paulo (25 September -1 October) and it will be held in Bilbao until October 11th. The event takes place in AlhondigaBilbao, where a glass cas was installed and the overall winner decided.

Participants include Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand and Levon Aronian, who currently hold the top three spots in the world ranking. As in previous years, different activities related to chess are scheduled.

Number one in the world ranking, Magnus Carlsen, thanks to his win yesterday evening over the irregular Vallejo, moves closer to the top spot at the Chess Grand Slam Masters Final, with Vasili Ivanchuk continuing to lead after his tie with current World Champion, Viswanathan Anand.

In the third match played in the great glass booth located at the Alhondiga Bilbao, American Nakamura, after his victory over Armenia’s Aronian, is in third place and still has a real shot at the title.

With the last two rounds to go, which will be played on Monday and Tuesday, Ivanchuk remains on top with 14 points, just three points ahead of Carlsen and Nakamura, both with 11. Further behind are Anand with 9 and Aronian with 8. Vallejo trails the leaderboard with 7 points.

        Hi Susan Polgar,

        Good play & Interesting chess.

Ivanchuk seems to be in good form – nice.

All those who compete in this tournament are great players (It includes Vallejo ) – Very entertaining chess.

Well, sign of a good sportsman is to have balanced head and prioritize his preference and importance – “Anand” is certainly capable of being so.

In addition, great sportsmen keep their emotions neutral to the out come of the result of all the tournaments that they play & watch.
