      Breaking News: Case Dismissed

      Chess election, FIDE, Lawsuit

According to my sources, Anatoly Karpov’s lawsuit against FIDE and FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has been dismissed. More to come as soon as it is official. As of now, this is what I have been told by various sources. If true, the election will come down to the actual votes in Khanty-Mansiysk. The election will take place tomorrow (September 29, 2010).

I wonder why no one is talking about this?

Justice prevails. Bill Goichberg and the USCF lost again. Evil will lose always.

Jackass is wrong once again. Karpov’s lawsuit has no merit and has no chance to succeed. But that doesn’t stop jackass from pretending that he knows what he’s talking about. What an idiot.

From what i heard that’s not very good news , is it. Because without that case teh current Fide leader has enough votes to carry this election. Surely, that is NOT what most of us want.

Congratulations to team Kirsan. I hope team Karpov and the USCF will reimburse FIDE their legal fees.

        From Karpov 2010:
The Lausanne Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled against the federations because the wording of the FIDE regulations is insufficiently specific on the matter of nomination requirements…
The panel, however, did find that if there are any conflicts of interest, the relevant person should recuse himself. This means that having the incumbent FIDE administration members running the election processes in Khanty-Mansiysk should not be allowed, and that impartial panels or mutually satisfactory third parties should be appointed to oversee the proceedings. Otherwise, the elections can easily be challenged since there is an obvious conflict of interest.

I love chess, but some people take this game rather too seriously.
