Arianne has Filipino parents, lives in Australia. Has Aussie citizenship and plays for Australia at Olympiad etc. May have Filipino citenship too, i don’t know.

Arriane is born in the Philippines but migrated to Australia. She still speaks in Tagalog as I found out when I chatted to her during Day 3 of the tournament.

And yes, she indeed is the Anna Kournikouva of the chess world.

Wasn’t it a British chess player who punched Aronian because Aronian was doing the salsa with Caoili at the Turin Tournament a while back?

Aronian wasn’t doing salsa with Caoili!

He was pushing wood for a mate and I don’t mean e4 either!
Caoili was looking for a well hung rook but got a bad bishop instead!

        Chess is so dirty!

        “Arianne has Filipino parents…”

Arianne’s mom is Australian-Dutch and her dad is Filipino, but her pretty looks are certainly very Filipina. She was born in the Philippines where her chess “career” began, but moved to Australia for better financial support for her game. Her rating has been much higher than current. Aronian is obviously a big (and unworthy) distraction.

Btw, she turns 23 on Dec 22.
