      Chess Night in Portland

      Oregon, Portland, Portland Beavers


      July 28 is Chess Night at the Portland Beavers stadium. It begins at 1:00 p.m. with a simul by FM Chuck Schulien, Oregon’s highest rated player. A scholastic chess tournament follows. Chuck Schulien and the 2009 Oregon State Champion NM Carl Haessler will be available to discuss chess and analyze games.

      After the tournament, Carl will throw out the first pitch at the AAA Beavers baseball game. During the game, winners of the chess tournament will be recognized on the field and presented with special awards.
