Nice to know that atleast Elite GMs make decent money. Otherwise, for the rest of the chess playing universe, we have to play just for passion. The rewards are pathetic. I hope this improves and chess becomes as rewarding as tennis.
sIs tennis that rewarding? I read they have to pay a lot of thousands of dollars for renting an hour of training area. Also plane tickets, trainers, balls, and so on.

Almost all is driven by advertising dollars. If you can get people to care enough to watch it or read about it or pay for seats, you’ll get ad dollars and the prizes get better. otherwise, it is dependent on just gifts
