        1) Gelfand
        2) Aronian
        3) Well … I remember Khalifman, Anand (twice), Ponomariov, Khasimdzhanov; Aronian’s world cup didn’t count anymore, I guess. But someone’s missing …
        4a) Kramnik who got his title in 2000 from Kasparov;
        4b) Maybe the Chinese (can’t remember the name) who won the title from you, Susan?

        “3. Can you name all World Champions who have won the title in formats other than traditional matches?”

        Botvinnik is the only one. Khalifman, Anand, Pono, Kasim and Topalov were merely FIDE Champions.

        These are just off top of my head so will need confirming:

        1.Gelfand 2.Grischuk
        3. I don’t really count the post-’92 FIDE champions so Botvinnik (tournament in ’48) & Karpov (by default in ’75)
        4. Kramnik’s win over Topalov last year or if you count that as a defence then his win over Kaspy in 2000.
        The women’s I think would be your victory over Xie Jun which was around 1999 (??)
