      Chicago has been eliminated!

      Chicago, olympic

Chicago has been eliminated as the site for the 2016 Olympics. In fact, it was the first city eliminated. Tokyo was the second city eliminated. My guess is Rio will win it since South America has never hosted an Olympic game.

I assume this means that there will no longer be a bid for the 2016 Chess Olympiad from Chicago since that would require a financial guarantee of about 14 million Euros. This is not small change and the organization which goes into putting together a chess Olympiad is massive. I would be happy if someone can prove me wrong and some chess organizers in Chicago can come up with the money.

I’m glad Chicago didn’t get it. Rio deserves. Too much corruption in Chicago.

Americans already had Olympics in 1996, 1984, etc.

        Spain already had Barcelona 1992.

Tokyo already had Olympics in 1964.

South America never had Olympuics, wo I’m glad they got it and that it was rightfull instead of political decision.

Next stop for Olympics – Africa!
