STANLEY Chumfwa on Friday outsmarted French Grand Master Thal Abergel in round four to move into joint second, and half a point behind championship leader at the Cuca Open International 2012 in Luanda, Angola.

Chumfwa is in fifth overall position but shares the second slot with seven other players who include five Grand Masters. Daniel Jere settled for a draw against Armindo Sousa of Angola and is in position number 15.

In round five, Chumfwa was scheduled to play black pieces against Dutch Grand Master Tiviakov on board two while Jere on white pieces had a game against Angola’s Jose Cambando.

In the women category, Woman Candidate Master (WCM) Epah Tembo and an unrated Yvonne Saina drew their respective third round games while Lorita Mwango was on the losing end.
