      Claverie and Saldaño share first place in the Magistral Apart Hotel Cariló Village 2012

      The General Madariaga Chess Federation and Beaches of Atlantida Argentina with the support of the Argentina Chess Federation and FIDE have organized the Magistral Apart Hotel Cariló Village on 23-29th October.

      The tournament was a 10-player round robin with the possibility of winning GM and IM norms. The average elo was 2412 points.

      International Masters Raul Claverie of Argentina and Horacio Saldaño of Spain shared the first place with 7,0/9 points each. These two players met in the last round and naturally signed a quick draw that also allowed them to claim the Grandmaster norms.

      The Cuban Grandmasters Omar Almeida and Isan Ortiz Suarez got 6.5 points each and shared the third place.

      Final standings:

      1-2. IM Claverie Raul ARG 2479 and IM Saldano Dayer Horacio ESP 2436 – 7.0
      3-4. GM Almeida Quintana Omar CUB 2520 and GM Ortiz Suarez Isan Reynaldo CUB 2579 – 6.5
      5. GM Bacallao Alonso Yusnel CUB 2580 – 6.0
      6. IM Dolezal Cristian ARG 2417 – 4.0
      7-8. Varela Daniel ARG 2216 and IM Liascovich Lucas ARG 2409 – 3.5
      9-10. FM Molina Jorge BOL 2163 and IM Quiroga Facundo ARG 2328 – 0.5
