Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
What is this? Some kind of joke? This kid Carlsen starts to work with Kasparov, and right after, scores 4.5/5 in very super SuperGM tournament?
This is pure talent and Kasparov was right. Unlike in Russia and Armenia where most the players ‘hang out’ with each other and help each other, this kid probably mostly relies on himself and Fritz.
Be nice to see how he fares against a computer though. Bilbao should drag him into their next Man vs. Machine series.

What does a PIZZA have in common with a PATZER?
Both never ‘resign’ but prefer to wait until they get eaten up.
I hope 2800 gets him a lot of girlfriends.
Magnus the Red Dragondorf?
Rybka 3.5 is laughing her head off with these games.
Booby Fischer, may he rest in peace, would suggest the tournament is frauded.
“What is this? Some kind of joke?”
Yes.
Magnus is undoubtedly the best player on earth today. A weakling compared to Rybka, but so what??
Magnus is simply the best talent the world have seen since Kasparov. Gary picked him out of all the young talented players to work with for a reason. He will be WC either this cycle or next, after that it will be a long domination. It is too bad for all the other top young players. 🙂
Sorry if I sound stupid, but why did black resign in the game? Why are players not allowed to draw before 30 moves, but are allowed to resign before 30? I don’t understand nothing any more.
I like the nickname “Red Dragon”. It’s very sexy, and appropriately put to Magnus. He is so handsome. Many kisses to him.
Oh Susan please, I am the 33_1/3th player in the world but your list doesn’t reflect it!!
P.S. I absolutely adore Carlsen, I have been analizing some of his games lately and they are so great…
Why was no Philippino invited to play here?
Who will give a thousand dollars to the first man who beats Magnus?
Kasparow never played this good.
Can we have poll on most handsome player?
Susan, you are so wonderful to bring us the joy of chess into our houses. Thank you for that.
Topa is sinking into the mediocre.
Wow!!!
Unbelievable!!!
What a great collaboration between Kasparov and this young prodigy, Magnus Carlsen. They are working with together. What a success!
I love both of them…!
Let’s not go into trans. Kasparov is good, but not that good. I worked a while with him, he is not a prophet.
Why doesn’t anyone want to hire Karpov as coach? Sigh.
“This kid Carlsen starts to work with Kasparov, and right after, scores 4.5/5 in very super SuperGM tournament?”
Right after? You clearly (like many here) don’t know what you are talking about.
He started working with Kasparov in March/April. In his first two tournamets as “Kasparov’s protege” he came 2nd (Sofia) and 3rd (Dortmund).
I suggest that you first know the topic you are discussing, or just be quiet and learn.
It ‘s perfectly OK to be quiet when you don’t know.
‘It ‘s perfectly OK to be quiet when you don’t know.’
Yeah, shut up.
Then why dont you have a list of world champions on your site?? There is only a list of FIDE presidents I can find!!
“He started working with Kasparov in March/April. In his first two tournamets as “Kasparov’s protege” he came 2nd (Sofia) and 3rd (Dortmund).”
Anonymous 10.30am is clearly a moron. Nobody argued with you about WHEN Magnus began to work with Kasparov. My statement was “This kid Carlsen starts to work with Kasparov…”
And how does Carlsen’s 2nd in Sofia and 3rd in Dortmund qualify as mediocre results? I think those are respectable results for SuperGM tournaments.
If you are ill-tempered from being hungry, then go get a Pizza, Patzer!
Then what the hell is that “right after” part???
“This kid Carlsen starts to work with Kasparov, and right after, scores 4.5/5…”
Better read what you write, moron.
I am sure Kasparov’s training has helped him achieve the current performance. Kasparov can give Carlsen strengths where his weakness lied.
Then what the hell is that “right after” part???
Words fail me 🙁
Who said imbeciles can be chess lovers too? Listen Anon 1:06 pm… even if Kasparov began working with Carlsen 2 years ago, and Carlsen has the kind of solid results he has had so far, the most recent being his ‘San Luis-like’ performance, that would still be “RIGHT AFTER”. My point therein is that two years is still too short a ‘mentoring session’ for such results. If I didn’t provide a time frame and you inferred one, then it appears to me that English language is your only challenge.
Again, this all comes down to chess and chess knowledge. So permit me to say this. I’m ranked 2285 (FIDE, not USCF) and I’ve played fourth board twice for my country at the Chess Olympiad. What is your rating?? And to put my money where my mouth is, how about you meet me up on playchess.com for a little skull-thumping session to settle this? Please let me know 🙂

This blog is very nice.
I beg of you guys not to ruin the atmosphere by insulting each other.
We may have differences of opinion, but we should respect each other.
thanks!

Thanks for sharing Mr. Vidmar
This discussion about the meaning of “right after” and about who is a moron or an imbecile is very interesting.
What is this? Some kind of joke? This kid Carlsen starts playing chess and right after, scores 4.5/5 in very super SuperGM tournament!! Must be an easy game!!
