1. -, Rd1. The queen can’t take the rook as she has to pin the pawn. 2. Q any (Qxf7+ loses, too, of course), Rd5+! and now 3. QxR is forecd (or 3. Qf5 which loses, too, of course) and finally 3. -, f6#
Rikard, Yancey Ward, Steven R. Stahl and one anonymous poster have suggested 1…Rg1 as an appropriate move. Steven remarked: “Rg1 wins, I think.”
But 1…Rg1 can be answered by 2. Qxf7+. Then Black’s best option (of two) is 2…Rxf7, which is a draw by stalemate; the other option is 2…Kh8, which allows White to win.
1…Rg1 should not be played. Instead there are several alternatives that allow Black to deliver mate within a few moves, with the quickest mating route being via 1…Ref1.
I was hasty to get out of the house earlier. Rg1 does lead to stalemate after Qf7 and Rf7. While driving down the road, I realized that Rg1 was what popped into my mind because it left white with only one move. It should have occurred to me that white could sacrifice on this one move leaving white with none.

2. Qb7, Rd5+

I would play
1. …..Rg1
2. Qc1 Rg4
3. Qg4 hg4
1. .. Rd1
2. Qb7 Rd5+
3. Qxd5 f6#
Rb8 look good, threatening to check with the other rook
1. Rd1! for example Qb7 2. Rd5+ Q:d5 3. f6#
Rg1. White can only stop the mate at g4 by giving up his Queen.

Black would have checkmate by f7-f6, but for the pin on f7. Therefore he should try to deflect the enemy queen. 1…Rd1! 2.Qb7 Rd5+! 3.Qxd5 f6#

1…Rg1 doesn’t do the job:
2. Qxf7+! Rxf7 stalemate.
1…Rd1 solves.
Anonymous of 1:31 pm,
I agree that Rd1 is a nice move, but Rg1 also wins and does not lead to stalemate after Qxf7+ RxQ. White
has the legal move gxh available.

i think the solution is 1 Kg8, taking away the QXf7 stalemate trick because then KxF7, Kh6 wins for black.
so 1 Kg7 White moves the queen anywhere its irrelevant where.
then 2) Ref1, or Rg1 if no rook is hanging.
