Girls chess team receives top titles in tournament
The Central Catholic Girls Chess Team participated in the Region VII Girls Chess Tournament in Bishop and received two first-place team trophies. The team had the top four finishers in the elementary division (grades fourth through fifth). First place, Georgia Olvera; second, Tabitha Lee Sang; third, Sarah Garza; fourth, Thalia Parizot.
In the Primary Division (kindergarden through third): first place, Bridget Lee Sang; third, Cristi Zapata; fifth, Meylna Moreno. They will be representing their school in the Texas Girls State Chess Tournament to be held Saturday and Sunday in Corpus Christi.
