      Cuban superstar aiming for the World Cup

      Cuba, Leinier Dominguez, Norway, Tromsø

      Cuban Chess Player Dominguez to Play in Norway Cup 

      Havana, Aug 7 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Great Master Leinier Dominguez, best Cuban player and of Latin America, nowadays, will take part in the World Tromso Cup in Norway from September 3 to 10, said Cuban weekly Jit. 

      “This tournament is always difficult, but I will do my best so I can go as forward as I can. To reach the top is my goal,” said Dominguez, the owner of the 12th place in the world ranking, with 2,757 ELO points. 

      If Leinier Dominguez reaches the finals, he would win a ticket for the Tournament for Candidates to the world title.

      Dominguez concluded his training for the competition in his natal town in Guines, and his first match in the tournament will be against Egyptian Essam El Gindy (2,487 Elo points), in his fifth try in this kind of tournament.

      “I have seen some matches by my first contender, but I have preferred to rest these days, because it will be much important to get to the competition with enough energy,” he said.

      Cuba will also compete in Norway with Lazaro Bruzon (2,698 points) and National Champion Isam Ortiz (2,609).
