Qd6 is not the move. But Qxc7 is, which takes the bishop off the f6 square and takes the knight from protecting the Re8 square or stopping the queen from protecting it.
Grab the knight. A retake by the queen is immediate mate (2. Rxe8#), and a retake by the bishop leaves f6 to White’s knight.
