BK is boxed in by Whites bishops, but for that pawn on d5, which is being blocked by the bishop on d6, so …

        1. Rf8+ Bxf8 2. d6+ Be6 3. Bxe6#

          2. … Qd5 3. Bxd5 Be6 4. Bxe6# if black wants to delay the inevitable.

Obviously White won because his King was controlling the centre.

Well….. yes…. and also because white Ra1 and Nb1 are very secure. :-)))

First, 1.Rf8+! deflects the Bishop from defending the pawn move d6. Black is forced to recapture. But after 1…Bxf8, than 2.d6+ (not 2.Qxh5 even though that looks good enough) and Black can only delay mate for a couple of moves. 2…Qd5 (Black can resign but he wants to delay mate) 3.Bxd5+ Be6 3.Bxe6 and it is mate.
