      Silvio Danailov receives Order Stara Planina
      Highest state award for the ECU President
      Chessdom

      By Decree No 5 of The President of the Republic of Bulgaria Georgi Parvanov from 01/04/2011 (promulgated in State Gazette No 6 from 01/18/2011), Silvio Danailov, the President of the European Chess Union and the Bulgarian Chess Federation, is awarded with the highest state award – the Order of Stara Planina I-st class for “his exceptional contribution to the Republic of Bulgaria in the field of physical education and sport.”

      The President of Bulgaria awards with the Order of Stara Planina politicians, diplomats, public figures, athletes, Bulgarian and foreign citizens.

      “I am extremely grateful to the President of Bulgaria Mr. Georgi Parvanov for His extraordinary recognition to my efforts to promote chess in Bulgaria and abroad. This order obliges me to continue working with redoubled efforts.” – said Silvio Danailov on the occasion of his award.

      Among the winners of the order are very renowned names such as: Colin Powell, Sylvie Vartan, Nicolas Sarkozy, Silvia (Queen of Sweden), Angela Merkel, Tony Blair, Jose Manuel Barroso, Condoleezza Rice, Nelson Mandela, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, Silvio Berlusconi and others.

        Danailov is the one the biggest things to happen to pro-chess, FINANCIALLY. He makes it happen and brings in the money.
