A jubilant Duncan Vella was recently crowned Malta Open Champion after securing his seventh straight win in a row in this year’s edition of the Malta Chess Open organised by the Malta Chess Federation.

This competition is open to all chess players irrespective of age, gender or nationality.

Vella trounced all opposition and one after the other the chess Kings J. Klotz, F. Aguilar, J. Gauci, C. Psaila, national champion C. Pace, I. Attard and J. Richards had to bow low and accept defeat.

Duncan Vella won this title for the first time in 2004. Colin Pace was second overall with 6/7 while Joe Gauci and Filipina Aguilar were joint third on 4.5/7.
