      Durres Open 2014 kicked off in Albania

      The second edition of the International Open Chess Tournament “Durres 2014″ kicked of in Durres, one of the most ancient and significant cities of Albania, situated on the Adriatic Coast.

      The event is organized by the Albanian Chess Federation from 1st to 8th November 2014 in the Conference Hall of the 4-Star Hotel “Bleart”****.

      The tournament is a 9-round Swiss, valid for FIDE rating and norms, with tempo of play 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move one.

      98 players from 11 different federations are taking place in the event, including 10 GMs, 4 IMs, 4 FMs and 1 WGM.

      Top seed is Croatian GM Zdenko Kozul CRO (2632). You can see the full list of participants below.
