      Levon Aronian beats Nigel Short in London Chess Classic round 3
      December 6, 2011 – 11:40 AMT

      PanARMENIAN.Net – In the 3rd round of London Chess Classic, Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian beat England’s Nigel Short to gain his first victory.

      Having earned 4 points, Aronian shares 3-5th places with Hikaru Nakamura (U.S.) and Vladimir Kramnik (Russia).

      The 4th round pairings are as follows: Magnus Carlsen v Vladimir Kramnik; Michael Adams v Nigel Short; Vishy Anand v Hikaru Nakamura; David Howell v Luke McShane. Aronian will be assisting the commentary team.

        It pains me to see. I know Nigel can make people a little upset with his sometimes careless “wit”. But to see him get pounded like this makes me feel a little sad. Hopefully he’s got one or two left up his sleeve.

        Short’s start would be a correct start for almost everyone else. We should expect Short’s start would be a correct start for you (anonymous). I will admit Short’s start would be a correct start for me.
        Mature and wise people would not accuse Short of being a joke. He can beat weaker-GM after weaker-GM and that is still a serious accomplishment.

        it is a fact that Short had the steepest fall – from a WC challenger to ‘out of top 10’ in just a few years.. NO champion/challenger ever fell ‘out of top 10’ so fast.. so short was his tenure for this big mouth
