Rc1+, Kb6 (other moves Rc5 or bishop is free) , Rc6+, Ka5, Kc3! The threat is b4 and Ra6, so black cannot take the bishop

        1 Rc1+! (1…Kd6 2 Rd1! Kxd5 3 Kc3+ wins R) 1…Kb6 2 Rc6+ Ka5 and the next move is the point took me about 4 minutes to see, 3 Kc3! Rd5 4 b4+ Ka4 5 Ra6#. A very nice motif.

If all I am to do is to protect the bishop I can do that.

Note Ra7+ doesn’t work because the king can hide on c5.

        Rc1+ does though. For example: Rc1+ Kb6 Rc6+ Ka7 Rc5 Kb6 b4.

Nice one! The point is of course to unpin or to protect the Bishop, so:

1)Rc1! Kb6 (if K anywhere else simply Rc5 or Bishop unpins) 2)Rc6! Ka5 (other choices lose easily as before) and now 3)Kc3! setting a nice trap, since if 3)…Rxd5, then comes 4)b4+ and 5)Ra6#. If instead 3)…b4+, simply 4)Kc4 protects the bishop and wins.

        1.Rc1 Kb6
        [1…Kb8 2.Rc5]
        2.Rc6+ Ka7
        [2…Ka4 3.Kb3 (3.Rc5 Kb4) Rd5 4.b4+ Ka4 5.Ra6#]
        3.Rc5
