The website for collection of contributions for the Everest Trekking Charity Project was launched this afternoon at the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre, OGDC, Seria this evening. The website was officially launched by the Belait District Officer, Haji Jamain bin Momin.
To donate to the Project Fund online, the public can log on to www.trekkingamal.com.bn. Besides donating online, donors can also send their contributions directly to the Community Development Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and to the HSBC throughout the country. Meanwhile, the organisers also plan to introduce the donation method via Brunei Prihatin SMS soon.
The Everest Trekking Charity Project is carried out by the Brunei Chess Association, BCF, with the cooperation of the Community Development Department, aimed at collecting donations for the National Welfare Fund.The project targets at a collection of 50 thousand dollars for the construction or repairworks on the homes of families in need of aid in the country. The objective of the project is also to establish the first Brunei team to reach the Everest Base Camp as well as to organise a chess tournament at the world’s highest venue. Present at today’s ceremony was a member of the State Legislative Council, Yang Berhormat Haji Shafiee bin Ahmad.
