Fabiano Caruana scored GM norm in Budapest

      Fabiano Caruana, GM norm

This picture was taken at the Polgar Chess Center a few years ago

Congratulations to IM Fabiano Caruana for earning a GM norm at the First Saturday Tournament in Budapest, Hungary! He won the event with the score of 7.5 / 10 for a performance of 2634!! He also gained 18 rating points which should bring his FIDE rating to about 2510, more than enough for the GM requirement!

Great job Fabiano! I am very proud of you!

      Here are the final standings.

Fabiano played his first ever USCF rated tournament at the Polgar Chess Center back on May 30, 1998! His father is also one of the most devoted chess fathers. He sacrificed so much to give Fabiano an opportunity to excel! Congrats to the whole Caruana family!

14! Well, in that case, it’s about darn time, Fabiano! Get with the program! 🙂

        Congratulations to the young master.

If you navigate on that results page, they have some pictures of the players, Caruana looks nothing like that picture anymore apparantly, seems to have grown up quite a bit in very little time.

Congratulations what ever is your age. You deserve congratulations for making a GM norm.

Most people never make a norm at any age.
