World Championship Match GM V. Anand – GM V. Topalov
      Thursday, 01 October 2009 13:35

When the deadline expired for bids for the World Championship Match between GM V Anand (current World Champion) and GM V Topalov, three bids had been received at the FIDE Secretariat in Athens, Greece from Bulgaria, Singapore and Turkey.

These bids were opened in the presence of the FIDE Deputy President, Georgios Makropoulos and the FIDE Executive Director, David Jarrett.

Under the terms of the bidding procedure, the bids should have been accompanied by financial guarantees. As none of the bids provided such a guarantee, it has been decided that the bidders have until October 15th, the day before the opening of the FIDE Executive Board at Halkidiki, Greece, to meet this condition.

It is clear from FIDE statement that nobody has in fact bidded, and that a cover-up is at hand.

        ‘They deserve $10,000,000.’

No they don’t. They have done nothing to promote the sport, only themselves. Susan deserves $100,000,000, on the other hand.

Kamsky – Karpov Elista 1996 World Championship:

The prize fund was 2.000.000 US$ of which 500.000 US$ would be given by the players to the children of Kalmykia. FIDE would take 1/4 of the rest. Of the remainder, the winner would get 5/8, which works out to 703.125 US$.

Why not stop all this bullshit. Get Anand to play Carlsen i/o Topalov. I’m sure that there will be many bids for that match!
