Today is the first day of the new semester at Texas Tech University. TTU President Guy Bailey greeted the National Collegiate Champion IM Gergely Antal and some members of the SPICE group.
Nice to see the tremendous impact of SPICE. Please ignore the crooks at the USCF. They’re a bunch of useless and vindictive chess politicians and not worth anyone’s time.
Congratulations! Go SPICE!

Chess seems so much a part of Texas Tech U’s program. How did this come about?

The Great Pumpkin brought chess to all the good girls and boys.
The activities of a few faculty members and students who founded the Knight Raiders led to the rivial of chess in Lubbock and at TTU. Visit http://www.depts.ttu.edu/spice/knightraiders/knightraiders.php for some background.

Dr. K,
Thank you for your decent reply. The Lubbock/TTU experience can be a model for other schools, like ours. I will try to learn more about it.
