Free online chess league on FICS

      Chess League, FICS, Online chess

I would like to extend an invitation to you and your chess friends to register a team, or just register and I’ll find you a team.

We work out of the FICS server. The time control is 60 minutes with 15 second increment with one round per week. Each round teams are matched against each other on 4 boards, so a minimum team is 4, but you can register as many as 6, so no one has to play every week.

Games times are negotiated via email to the players choice and the game is played on FICS. It’s a great tourney with 3 sections. The Open (unlimited ratings, and we see many masters and the occasional IM), The U1900 (all players on a team below 1900), and the U1650 (all players under 1650).

You must have a FICS account, which is free, and proof of rating (10 games on FICS or a national rating list). Come join us. Schedule for the Winter 2008

      Registration – through: Saturday March 15, 2007
Lineups Round 1 Due: Tuesday March 18, 2007
Round 1 Pairings Out: Wednesday March 19, 2007

Players can register for the tourney at:

I have playe in this before and am going to start up again. Sometimes the games are a bit difficult to schedule to everyone’s satisfaction, but it is great fun!

True, but the ICC is expensive and the FICS is free, except for those of us who choose to donate $$.

I’m a captain of one of the U1650 teams…Poisoned Pawns. This league and Teamleague (45 45 time control) is a lot of fun

While some administrators *may* be abusive on FICS, the fact that you posted anonymously does nothing to enhance the credibility of your claim.
