        Not that fast, but the start is correct…

        1. Qg6+ hxg6
        2. Bxg6+ Ke7
        3. Nef5+ Nxf5
        4. Nxf5++

        Same idea, but I started with the Bishop, probably because I was in “game mode” (I was in the middle of a game when I came to the site), rather than in “puzzle mode” – if that makes sense to anyone else.

        1. Bg6+ hxB
        2. Qxg6+ Ke7
        3. Nf5+ NxN
        4. NxN#

        Alternatively,

        1. … Ke7
        2. Nf5+ NxN
        3. NxN#

        @anon jcheyne:

        It makes sense to me, it’s the same approach I took towards the position. The first move that occured to me was Nxd5, but shortly I realized it doesn’t work. Then the facts that the Black king was short on space, the position of white knights, and the hidden pin of the black e-pawn just clicked together.

        I try to solve puzzles by thinking in real-game mindset, I find that it helps me develop more.

        Pay attention to the fact that there is not only a choice between B or Qg6 but also which knight to move first.

        3. Ngf5+ gives another really cute mate after
        3. -, exf5 4. Nxf5# (mate by double check).

        Best wishes

        Jochen

        1. Bg6 is safer in case you’ve miscalculated!
