      Hello Everyone,

      This is just a reminder for those who want to join the FRIDAY KNIGHT MARATHON (Tonight at 7:30 pm) and NorCal House of Chess Quads (Saturday, January 15). This is also information about our group classes and individualized coaching.

      A. FRIDAY KNIGHT MARATHON

      You will be getting a bye (half-point) for the first round and still get the chance to play 5 more quality games. Check our website for the previous players who attended.

      6-ss rounds, one rated game every Friday night. Time control is G/90.
      Begins: 7:30-7:45 p.m. January 7, 2011. January 14, 21, 28, February 4, & 11.

      Entry Fee: $45. Add $ 10.00 if you’re not a member of the club. Adults/Kids are all welcome.
      Cash Prizes/Chess Products (Software, Video, etc.): 65% of the prize fund given to 1st, 2nd & 3rd Overall, Under 1800, Under 1600, Under 1400. Under 1200. Under 1000. All lower-rated players are eligible to win higher class prizes.

      The tournament will follow USCF rules and all players must be current members of the USCF through the end February 2011.

      A request for up to two 1/2 point byes will be accepted if requested in advance.

      B. NORCAL HOUSE OF CHESS QUADS (JANUARY 15 SATURDAY)
      3 rounds, 4 players in each Quad
      $ 25.00 ($ 22 for members)
      USCF-Rated
      G/45 mins. 9:30 am is the registration and games start at 10 am thru 2:30 pm.
      Trophies for top winners and medals for those who participated.

      c. GROUP CLASSES
      1. Beginner/Intermediate Classes – Two-hour chess class grouped according to chess level and rating. Classes are held in groups of 10-14 students. Rate is $ 12.00 per hour.
      START DATE – January 22 thru March 5, 2011. Saturday 10 am-12 pm.
      2. Private-group classes – small groups of 4-6 students for advance kids. The fee is $ 30.00 per class.
      ON-GOING – Every Friday from 6:10-7:30. 1 slot available.
      We’re opening another private group class on Sundays from 10:30-12 am. Just let us know if you’re interested.
      3. Individualized coaching – we can refer you to our highly qualified top coaches depending on your level and schedule. On-line classes are also available.
