This is great! I can’t believe how much Paul and Susan are doing for chess while Goichberg, Sloan, Schultz and their people just sit and whine. I see a very bright future for the USCF if they are elected.

After the USCF President Bill Goichberg decided to insult the Denker Chair Dewain Barber, Susan Polgar, Paul Truong and Texas Tech University this morning, claiming that they did not have the authority to do so, here is what he just posted:
“I spoke to Bill Hall about Barber signing the contract. He said that he authorized Barber to do so on behalf of USCF, but only to accept scholarship prizes and not to do any tournament placement.
Bill Goichberg”
So it seems that our President decided to recklessly attack and insult the sponsors and the people who do great things for chess before even checking with his own ED. But no apology for the false accusations and insults.
And this is the man who is leading US chess. This is the same man who recommended the members to vote for his people: Joe Lux, Stephen Jones and Don Schultz. This is the same man who use the information from Sam Sloan to attack his opponents. This is the same man who has the biggest conflict in chess. No wonder why chess in this country has suffered. Goichberg should either resign or issue an apology. Shame on him! He’s one of the most imcompetent USCF President ever and let’s not forget that Don Schultz was responsible for putting Goichberg in this position.
Goichberg has really lost it starting with his stupid post card then a series of emails. All he cares about his CCA. He’s a disgrace to this federation as the President. Only a man would offer his appology for this error and I doubt that he doubt that he’s big enough to do it. This whole gang must go.
The big ball, called the “comma” I believe, is an example of the beutiful public art on the Tech campus.
Perhaps it also represents the “Polgar Four” rolling onto the USCF executive board. Looks like it might be hard to stop!
On behalf of many chess players, I apologize for the way you have been treated. This election is not really about chess as the focal point. This is about an organization that has been warped in time. I left chess for 26 years and have returned to find that there is no internet chess site for USCF (don’t even mention US Chess Live- what a joke), no internet chess training (I joined ChessLecture.com and I love the site), no visible presence for chess (other than what you and Maurice created), and the same old tournament approach (which has been undermined by ratings managing players with the same old focus) and, finally, no sponsorships.
Chess competes against other activities- there needs to be a chess leader and not just the status quo. I received my ballot and I voted for your slate. I suggest that other simply do the same. If the kids had a vote (or their parents on their behalf) this would be a landslide.
This was just posted by Dewain Barber. It shows the reckless nature of Bill Goichberg, Sam Sloan and Don Schultz. They could not care less about scholastic chess and they did everything they could to fool the USCF members and harm the scholastic players.

Well, where do I begin. I have just returned from a 10 day trip that included the National Open in Las Vegas and a trip to Texas Tech University. Although tired from the 20 hours of driving over the last three days, I took the time to check out the forum and see what was being written. Speculation was rampant. The most profound thing about this thread and a previous one is that no one called to ask me what was happening. I did call home every day that I was gone to see if their were any messages.
The answer to all of the questions below is YES.
1. Did I go to Texas Tech and visit their campus?
2. Did I represent Bill Hall, Mitchell Denker, Jerry Nash, Ralph Bowman, Jack Mallory and Harold Winston?
3. Did I sign a letter for a scholarship for the Denker Tournament of High School Championships for 2007 in Cherry Hill, NJ?
4. Did this letter have NO strings attached about the future and NO agreements that would encumber the USCF financially or otherwise?
5. Did this scholarship represent success in what was a very short period of time?
6. Did I get threatened and a board member file a motion to remove me from the Denker Chairmanship, the Scholastic Council and Scholastic Committee?
7. Did I ask Paul Truong to assist me in securing this scholarship?
8. Have I decided to not speculate about the future until after the Denker 2007 tournament is a fact?
9. Have I decided to send to anyone a copy of this scholarship letter upon request?
