Christmas quiz Q1, especially for those whose analytical and critical faculties have been sharpened at the chess board …
What is the probability of a full moon at Christmas?

        13/365?

Nice try ‘lunar’ with 13/365 or 0.035615. Your idea is right, and certainly indicates that a full moon is no rarer on 12-25 than any other day.

To be pedantically accurate, since the lunar cycle is 29.53059 days, the probability is 0.033863, a couple of permil points less.

A full moon at Diwali … now that’s what I call rare.
Maybe the original blog-item assumed some lunar contribution to what is purely a solar calendar.
