      Full point lead for Gupta Vizag GM International Open Chess Championship

      Abhijeet Gupta, Chess tournament

      Vizag GM International Open Chess Championship is taking place from from 23rd November to 1st December, 2011 at Swarnabharathi Indoor Stadium in Resapuvanipalem, Visakhapatnam, AP, India.

      The 11-round Swiss tournament with 198 participants is organized by the All Vizag District Chess Association together with Andhra Pradesh Chess Association and under the aegis of All India Chess Federation.

      After nine rounds of play the reigning India champion Abhijeet Gupta is holding a convincing lead with 8 points, a full point ahead of the nearest opposition.

      Indian juniors Vaibhav Suri, Grover Sahaj and Lalith Babu have all scored victories and joined the group of foreign Grandmasters on the shared second place.

      The total prize fund amounts to INR 1020000 ($1 equals to INR 45 approximately). First place is 200000 INR worth.
