I will do game 9 LIVE commentary at 3 pm (Bonn time), 9 am (NY time), 8 am Texas time.
Anand is leading 5.5 – 2.5 after 8 games. He needs 1/2 point to guarantee a tie and 1 point to retain his title. Anand will have White in game 9.
What is your game 9 prediction? Is there a big comeback in Kramnik’s horizon?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
At this point, I think it is lost for Kramnik. Anand has outplayed him in every game. I don’t see Kramnik coming back from this. Whether he presses in game 9 and Anand beats him back for a win or draw doesn’t matter. Anand can force a draw in game 10 and claim the championship 2 games early.
Another draw.
This isnt fair, why is Kramnik getting 50% of the pot?Shouldnt most goto the victor?
I expect no wins to the end of the match
Maybe we saw a turn in the last game. A player usually have at least one weak game, and Anand can be too sure of the overall victory that he let this game slip.
Kramnik wins the match.
Yeah kramnik wins.
‘PROVIDED’
anand fails to turn up 🙂
I would wanna know whether the author of this blog – Gm susan reads the comments of her fans here.
hare rama,
She only reads the comments of certain more interesting posts, like the ones relating to SPICE and her Saturday Open Forum
Kramnic will make an attempt to comeback in this game but Anand will play a solid game which will lead to another two draws.Monotonous first fifteen moves and leading towards risk free draw by one player.I think in chess The first move reply to white by black has to be given two moves then regular game from the third move…
Anand’s preparation for this match was nothing short of brilliant. He has kept Kramnik off-balance from the very first game when he played 1.d4, and has uncorked novelties early, far earlier than Kramnik had planned for himself, in several of the games. I don’t think Kramnik has much spirit left at this point, and I would be surprised if he doesn’t simply draw out the last two games within 30 moves.
Anand has silenced the critics that said he was World Champion ONLY because he won it in a tournament.
They forgot that Botvinnik’s World Championship career started with a tournament in 1948!, and that Botvinnik proved to be a great match player as well!

I agree with anon 7:53pm 🙂
Well, I am enjoying what is happening. Russia has always dominated chess but I hope this changes. Not that I have anything against russians but it will be better for chess if the world champion changes from nationality as much as possible. I know chess is becoming more and more popular in India and this is nice. Having born in a country where soccer is the most important sport and little space is given to other activities (Brazil) I hope Anand wins and next time a player from another country and so on.
Too late… train is gone for Drawnik.
What can you say Garry K.?
Anand will win another one to finally silence Kramnik’s fans. It may be game 9 or 10…
Go Anand!!!
Kramnik cannot make a comeback in this game because he is black. Kramnik has trained himself very thoroughly never to win with black.
There isn’t a foot big enough to silence Garry K.
Just my 2 cents.

Predictions:
1. Kramnik will not score 3.5/4 to tie the match.
2. Anand plays d4 again Sunday.
3. Kramnik doesn’t “lose like and idiot” in game 9, but he does lose. Match finishes at +4 for Anand.
The big big criticism against Anand has that he spposedly lacks the killer instinct… So what better way to forever silence those critics than signing of with a win… My prediction is 6.5 – 2.5…
Respected Susan,
I am so grateful to you for providing live insights ( AND BEAUTIFUL ALSO ) which makes us understand everything..I like the craze & passion for chess in Hungary!
Today , Vishy might opt for e4 ..And Krammnik shall be able to surprise him sufficiently..lets hope so!
I have first evr question to you , Susan please do answer..
What do you think..say in game 7 & 8 ,had Anand castled,,he had more chances of losing…??
There are two possibilities I see:
1) Kramnik wins the match 6.5-4.5.
2) Two draws two follow giving Anand the title.
Let’s see…
obvious correction:
I meant 6.5-5.5 of course
Btw: prediction is 1. d4 as always *sleepy*
I predict that Kramnik will pull out the thimble, the little dog, and the metal boat from his Monopoly game and force Vishy to owe him $4500.00 for landing his Queen on Park Place.
It could happen.
I will do game 9 LIVE commentary at 3 pm (Bonn time), 9 am (NY time), 8 am Texas time.
Susan, if you see this: in Europe they just started daylight saving time. Thus, you will do the live commentary 10 am NY time, 9am Texas time. The time difference is now 5 hours, not 6, until US switches time too.
Kudos to Mig for picking up on the timing issue. Mig rules!
This is the time when Anand has to silence his aggressive and mostly unfair critics who have generally branded him as someone with no Killer instinct…
It started with his loss to Kasparov in 1995 probably and has stuck ever since. He is perhaps the best chess player with the least respect from the European media. All he has done consistently is performed at a level where they are coming around now. Kramnik has been a media darling who has been overrated largely. He is a great player undoubtedly, but Anand is perhaps one of the best 5 players in chess history and an emphatic win would seal that destiny.
What do you think Susan Polgar?? Thanks for making this blog fascinating for novices like me….
