I never thought about it but if you put President Bush, Sr. and President Clinton together as a fundraising team (they’ve worked quite well together before and raised huge sums for good causes), that’d be not only big time name recognition for chess but it’d sure bring in much needed funds.
An interesting idea.
Well only because Clinton needs a matching vote. I will cast my 4 votes for
President Clinton
Irina Krush
Greg Shahade
Jennifer Shahade
That looks like a balanced vote.
Seriously, it would be nice to see Greg back on the EB. He is an outstanding organizer and creative hard working individual who has proven himself as good for chess.
I hope Greg can run next election. There will be 3 open seats at that election. That would leave room for Jim Berry and Mikhail Korenman to be elected with Greg.
Not sure if Bush could spell chess and I definitely wouldn’t let Clinton anywhere near a women’s tournament.
“Not sure if Bush could spell chess and I definitely wouldn’t let Clinton anywhere near a women’s tournament. “
Wow, what a Republican. President Clinton didn’t do those things on his own.
My four would be the obvious members of KISS.
Gene Simmons
Paul Stanley
Ace Frehley
Peter Criss
Then we could Rock & Roll All Night and Party Everyday
Sam Sloan must be the one who voted for Raymond Weinstein.
Though this may be the wrong place to put it, I’d like to express my congratulations to you as the top vote-getter for the Executive Board. There is much work to be done and I hope getting your colleagues to agree on ideas will head the list.
I was very sorry to hear that Raymond Weinstein is hospitalized! I knew little about him except that he was one of John W. Collins’ “Seven Chess Prodigies” which included Fischer and the Byrne brothers. Fischer included a game between them from the 1960 U.S. Championship in “Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess.” A review of the book indicates Weinstein was always a very serious person and I hope that seriousness didn’t turn into incurable despair. I wonder if he and Norman ever gave tandem simultaneous exhibitions?
Bush would take the USCF to war …. somewhere. Perhaps attack FIDE….
That’s not a bad thing 🙂
Nice to read some nice light humor for a change. I see everyone is in a good mood including me. My guys won.
It goes to show the political fighting started with the simple use of the names Bush and Clinton in the same thread.
I just want to sit back and enjoy the results of this election. (smile)
HI All,
I’m so so happy to see some humor and not insults for a change. I’m a Republican and it doesn’t bother me to hear people poke fun at Bush. In fact, I think some of them are funny!
Some folks take things way, way too serious. It’s always OK to agree to disagree about politics. I don’t like mudslinging and I praise GM Polgar for her victory and the fact that she never stooped as low as those jokers who are now “Ex-Board” members!
She is what we need and I sincerely hope that Susan will become the USCF president.
I propose a toast: To the soon-to-be new USCF President (hopefully) Polgar! The Queen of Chess!
Thank you for everything you do.

I would fully support regime change for FIDE :).
>>Wow, what a Republican.>>
LOL, did you hear the part about me not being sure if Bush could spell chess, or did your mind just glaze over when I said something about Clinton too. It comes across as dishonest when you say something wildly out of step with what the post you’re replying to says. I think it was more inattentiveness than anything else. You heard something against Clinton, the old knee jerked, and you spouted the first cliche you could think of.
In your mind anyone who utters a peep against Bill must be a dyed-in-the-wool Republican. That’s your excuse for not thinking. But when you say that to somebody who just told you that Bush probably couldn’t spell chess, it seems kind of stupid, doesn’t it?
Hideki Matsui gets my votes. Hit dingers for chess!
Who in their right mind would want Bush on our eb? I think with him as an eb member, the USCF would be bankrupt within one second. However, I would like to see Bush in a chess match against a two-year-old toddler. He’d get pummeled, lol. *laughs*
With the kind of mone Matsui’s making, I don’t think he’d want to quit his day job.
>> GM Bobby Fisher – 1 vote
Did somebody really vote for Fischer without even knowing how to spell his name? Something really appropriate about that.
