Is Fier the best Brazilian player?

        Hello Everybody,

I’m from Joinville-Brazil, the city GM Fier was born. Certaily Fier is one of the best in Brazil, but it is difficult to say he is the best. We have players that recently were among the 100 best in the world like GM Geovani Vescovi and there are others like GM Gilberto Milos, GM Rafael Leitão and of course the famour GM Mecking that gave a lot of headaches for his opponents when he was at the top.
Last year 4 young chess players, including Fier Spent some monthes playing in Europe and China. It was unbelievable to see them at the top of those tournaments, fighting against strong players from several countries and sometimes winning like Fier is doing now. Just to remember Brazil is just the land of football, not chess.

        Best Regards

        Edson
