      GM Sebastien Maze claims 20th Chess Festival Jean-Claude Loubatiere

      The 20th International Chess Festival Jean-Claude Loubatiere took part on 5-13th July 2014, at the Salle Jules Pagezy in Montpellier, a city in southern France, located on the Mediterranean Sea.

      The event was organized by the Echecs Club Montpellier in a 9-round Swiss format with a time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move 1.

      84 players from 11 different federations took part in the event, including 7 GMs, 3 IMs, 6 FMs and 1 WGM.

      GM Sebastian Maze (France) was a convincing winner with 7,5/9 points. He grabbed the trophy and the first prize in the amount of 1.000 €, leaving the runner-up half a point behind.

      GM Christian Bauer (France) took the silver with 7 points.

      Third place was shared in a five-way tie by GM Julen Luis Arizmendi Martinez (Spain), FM Armen Petrossian (France), FM Roman Oganisian (Russia), IM Silvia Collas (France) and GM Hua Ni (China) on 6,5 points.
